Academic Consultation and mentoring are unique methods of supporting students (both male and female) to improve their learning and leadership skills, motivating them towards their future career and professional development. At AIUB faculty members are also serving as role of a mentor/counsellor for students. Faculty counselling hours are posted on the office door of the faculty members, and in addition it is also available to student Virtual University Expert System (VUES) portal. The standard allocation is twenty (20) hours per week for academic counseling and mentoring where approximately 50% students participate. This scheme is available for all students, regardless of religion, race, color, age, disability, nationality, marital status, sexual orientation including gender identity.

Activities at AIUB targeting Women’s Mentoring Schemes
1. Personal Finance and Career Workshop
On November 11, 2024, AIUB’s Office of Placement & Alumni and the Faculty of Business Administration jointly organized a “Financial Literacy and Career Workshop” in collaboration with Shanta Asset Management Limited, advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth). Led by the CEO and CMO of Shanta Asset Management, the session equipped students with essential financial knowledge—budgeting, saving, investment—and introduced career pathways in the finance sector, supporting SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by ensuring equal access to skills development. The interactive workshop encouraged student engagement and promoted professional skill-building, aligning with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure). AIUB’s collaboration with industry partners further strengthened SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The event was attended by numerous FBA students and faculty, demonstrating AIUB’s commitment to practical learning and career readiness.

2. Seminar on Female Students Career-Building Opportunities in Power Sector
On September 23, 2024, AIUB, in collaboration with the WePOWER Bangladesh National Chapter, organized a seminar on “Female Students Career-Building Opportunities in the Power Sector,” promoting SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by encouraging final-year female engineering students to pursue careers in the energy industry. With participation from around 40 students and 9 faculty members, the session advanced SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth) by offering career guidance, professional insights, and information on required competencies. Speakers from leading power sector organizations highlighted inclusive work environments, skill-building opportunities, and pathways for women’s leadership in the energy field, aligning with SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure). The event also emphasized equitable access and reduced barriers for women in STEM, supporting SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Through strong collaboration between AIUB, industry experts, and WePOWER, the seminar reinforced SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), encouraging future research and professional engagement in the power and energy sector.

3. Enhancing Career Access through Internship and Alumni Engagement
In addition to academic tracking, the Office of Placement and Alumni (OPA) at AIUB contributes to broader access measurement through its Internship Clinic initiative. The Department of MIS at AIUB organized an insightful talk show titled “Future-Proof Your Career: Skills Every Graduate Needs,” featuring six distinguished alumni who shared expert guidance on industry trends, essential competencies, and career readiness. Attended by university leadership, faculty members, and approximately 120 students, the session emphasized lifelong learning, adaptability, soft skills, and technical expertise. The interactive discussions advanced SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth) by preparing students for sustainable careers, while contributing to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through inclusive skill-building.
